Library: Disabling Pop-up Blockers

Pop-up blockers may prevent you from being able to fully utilize library resources. In particular, when using a library database pop-up blockers may prevent a full-text article from opening, and they may also block the "Get it @ UP" window from appearing, which would indicate your options for obtaining a copy of the article.

How to disable pop-up blockers in your Internet browser:

PC

Firefox

1. Choose the Tools menu
2. Choose Options
3. Choose Content
4. Uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows

Internet Explorer

1. Choose the Tools menu
2. Choose Pop-up Blocker
3. Choose: Turn Off Pop-up Blocker

Mac

Firefox

1. Choose the Firefox menu
2. Choose Preferences
3. Choose Content
4. Uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows

Safari

1. Choose the Safari menu
2. Choose Preferences
3. Choose Security
4. Uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows

Pop-up blocker message in Internet Explorer

If a pop-up blocker message appears, follow the steps below to allow pop-up windows.

1. When a pop-up window is blocked, you should see the following message:

   

2. Click on the message, then select "Temporarily Allow Pop-ups" or "Always Allow Pop-ups from this Site" to disable the Google pop-up blocker:

1. On the Google toolbar, click the text which indicates how many pop-up windows have been blocked:
