Library: About UP Library Search
What is UP Library Search?
UP Library Search is replacing the UP-only Catalog and UP WorldCat. It is a search interface for discovering materials available at the Clark Library, Summit libraries, and libraries around the world. The Library's other databases will still be available, but a portion of them will also be searchable through UP Library Search.
When will it go live?
The projected go live date is Monday, June 16. We are switching to this system with a group of libraries, so it is a rolling migration. In other words, it may not be live until later in the day or on Tuesday. The UP-only Catalog will be removed on June 12, but UP WorldCat will still be available until the new system is fully in place.
Behind the scenes, Clark Library staff and faculty have been preparing to migrate to this new system since Fall 2013. This advance work will help minimize disruptions in service. A FAQ, helpsheets, and assistance at the Service Desk will also be available.
How will I be affected during the transition?
Summit requesting will be suspended from June 12 - 16. During this time, please use Interlibrary Loan (UP ILLiad) to request items held by other libraries in Summit.
A permanent change is that you will now use your UP network username and password to login to all library services and resources. This includes off campus access to databases, access to course reserves, the new UP Library Search system, access to eBooks, and UP ILLiad.
Why is the Library making this change?
We are part of a major cooperative effort by the Orbis Cascade Alliance (Summit) to consolidate all 37 institutions’ holdings into one single, shared library system. Previously, each library maintained standalone systems and associated costs to accomplish the same goals. Moving to one system will allow for collaborative collection development and more cooperative workflows among the institutions. It also offers opportunities for improved services down the line.See the Letter from the Library Dean for more information about this project.
