Building Access

  • The library's entrance has a ramp (to the left of the stairs) and the entryway has automatic sliding doors.
  • Within the building there is a full-sized elevator for moving between floors.
  • Accessible restrooms are available on every floor of the library.
  • Service animals are welcome; however, in keeping with the university's Policy on Service and Support Animals emotional support animals are not allowed.   Study Room 203 has been set aside as a Service Dog free zone for those with allergies to dogs.

Locating or Reaching Library Materials

  • Library staff can assist with locating or reaching shelved library materials. Please ask at the Service Desk on the main floor, or call 503.943.7111 for assistance.
  • If you have a large number of items to be retrieved, please contact us prior to your visit to the library.

Placing Books on Hold

  • Library staff can retrieve books and media from the lower floor and place them on hold for pickup at the Service Desk on the main floor.  To place items on hold:
  • Sign in to My Account
  • Select a book, DVD, or CD  title
  • Under Get It, select Request UP’s copy
  • Library staff retrieve items a few times per day; you will receive an email when they are available for you to pick up.

Scanning and Accessibility

  • If you require accessible alternate format textbooks and text materials for your coursework (such as electronic format or screen reader format), please contact Accessible Education Services.
  • The Library works closely with Accessible Education Services and uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to ensure that electronic course reserve materials are screen reader ready.
