Library: What's New?
Tired of signing in over and over for the library’s various online services? Then we have good news for you in the New Year. All of the library’s services requiring a UP network account have been added to the University’s single sign-on solution: Go! This is already in place for other frequently used University applications, such as PilotsUP, Moodle, and Outlook Webmail.
Now Go! includes course reserves, off campus access to databases, access to eBooks, UP ILLiad, Pilot Scholars, and your library account. When you are signed in through http://go.up.edu, it automatically populates the login information and passes you through to these services within a few seconds. It’s easy to activate on all of your devices. Visit https://sites.up.edu/go/ for more instructions.
These changes are part of our two year migration to one shared system among all 37 academic libraries in the Orbis Cascade Alliance. We are committed to resolving any issues that arise. Please contact us if you encounter any difficulties.
Streamlined Summit Requesting
Summit requesting is now integrated into the UP Library Search system. How does this affect you? Now you will need to sign in to your library account to see requesting options.
Overall this change streamlines your Summit experience by eliminating multiple prompts for authentication and adding the ability to track the status of Summit items in your library account.
Get it @ UP Links
These now connect you to the UP Library Search system. Get it @ UP is a helper tool that appears in most of our subscription databases. It either connects you to full text content or to our Interlibrary Loan service (UP ILLiad).
Have you been using Google Scholar to link to full text of articles in the library's online journals? If so, you will need to redo that setting. Go to Google Scholar and choose Settings, then Library Links. Enter University of Portland and check the box for "University of Portland - Get it @ UP" and choose Save.
Journal Titles A-Z has been replaced with Ejournals A-Z. This is a searchable, alphabetical list of our online journals, magazines, and newspapers. Use UP Library Search if you want to find all formats of these publications (print and online). [Search example for the journal Science]
Develop your digital technology skills! These free workshops are open to UP students, faculty, and staff. The Digital Lab space is limited, so register online to reserve your spot. Please note that registration is not required for the Kate Regan Short Film Fest Informational Session.
