Alumni Access to Databases-Revised

In person database access

Alumni have access to most Clark Library databases if they visit the Library (or the UP campus) in person. Alumni may use library computers (or bring your own device and use the UP Guest wireless network) to access the library's online resources through the A-Z Databases or the Subject Guides.

Off-campus access to databases

Most of the library's online resources have licensing agreements which only allow off-campus access for current UP students, faculty, and staff. However, the following resources do allow alumni to access these resources from off-campus:  

• Annual Reviews - Full text comprehensive review articles in the sciences and social sciences.
• Project Muse - Full text of journals in the humanities, sciences, and social sciences published by university presses.
• Sage Journals - Full text journals in health sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, and life sciences.

To access these databases, you will need to enter a UP network username and password:

• For alumni who graduated in 2010 or later: use the same credentials as you use for your alumni email account. Please use the Manage Passwords page if you need to reset your password.
• For alumni who graduated prior to 2010: please either visit Information Services Help Desk or contact them at 503.943.7000 to request that an alumni account for accessing library resources be created for you. The help desk will notify you when your credentials have been created. (This process may take about 48 hours)

Many publishers offer open access resources which are freely available to anyone, including:

Articles:

• DOAJ: Directory of Open Access Journals  - a searchable collection of open access journals
• JSTOR offers a Register & Read program that enables users to sign up for an account in order to read up to six articles every thirty days. In addition, JSTOR Early Journal Content provides access to journals published prior to 1923 (U.S.) and 1870 (elsewhere).
• PubMed Central - a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journals
• Open access online journal articles in UP Library Search (library catalog) - replace [your topic] with your search terms to find open access articles about a specific topic

Books:

• EBSCOhost eBook Open Access (OA) Collection - searchable collection of open access eBooks
• OAPEN - online collection of peer-reviewed scholarly open access eBooks 
• Open access eBooks in UP Library Search (library catalog) - add your search terms to find eBooks about a specific topic or title
