Services for Guests

Clark Library welcomes guests to visit our library.

All guests are welcome to:

  • Visit the library during our full service hours
  • Use print books and journals within the library
  • Borrow whiteboard markers for 4 hours by leaving an I.D. card at the Service Desk.
  • Use the quick lookup computer to search the library catalog
  • Use the UPGuest wireless network (guests may self-register)
  • Check out some items by purchasing a fee card

Guests who live within Portland city limits and Saturday Academy staff are welcome to:

  • Access all resources available to all guests, as well as:
  • Check out some items by applying for a Portland community card

Guests from any educational institution are welcome to:

  • Access all resources available to all guests, as well as:
  • Check out some items by purchasing a fee card or applying for a Portland community card
  • Use computers in the Clark Library (Learning Lab only; not the Digital Lab), space permitting, by showing a current, valid ID from an educational institution.  Library databases may be accessed from these computers. Priority for computer access is given to UP students, faculty, and staff.

Guests from Orbis Cascade Alliance (Summit) institutions are welcome to:

  • Access all of the resources available to guests from any educational institution, as well as:
  • Check out an unlimited number of items from all circulating collections (except the reserves, equipment, popular reading, and popular DVD collections) with a current, valid ID from any Orbis Cascade Alliance institution
  • Guests from any Orbis Cascade Alliance institution may request to pick up Summit items at University of Portland (or any other participating library). Before requesting that a Summit item be delivered to UP, patrons must come to the Library Service Desk in Clark Library and request to be adopted into our system.
